Today marked the arrival of Consolacionanon volunteers from Bohol. It was not in there wildest imagination that they will be sent to Bohol for distribution. What they thought was a simple idea of repacking relief goods, turned out to be more than they think it is.
Fellow Consolacionanon Jervy Sonday Sarmiento, recalled how they were deployed and their experienced on a the trip. On first day, Consolacionanons were invited by Maayung Buntag Kapamilya, a morning news program, to volunteer repacking of relief goods for the earthquake victims in Bohol. Without hesitation they said yes and stayed there for awhile even after the morning program.
Thinking that was it, they were asked if they are willing to accompany in loading the goods to the navy boat waiting to transport to Bohol. Still without hesitation and with the spirit of bayanihan, they literally agreed. Not until one Navy officer approached them and requested to help unloading the packs in Bohol for distribution that they realized it was not a joke. Like the earthquake, this too was not predicted.
Volunteering is no joke at all, you have to have a heart and dedication in order for it to be fulfilling. That's how the Consolacionanon arrive to Bohol. This is a memory to live by. And the rest as they say is history.
